Product Overview:
🛡️ Introducing the 2S 20A 7.4V 8.4V 18650 Lithium Battery Protection Board, also known as a Battery Management System (BMS) board. This highly efficient protection board is designed for a variety of lithium batteries including 18650, 26650, and polymer lithium variants, which typically operate with a nominal voltage of 3.7V and a maximum voltage of 4.2V. The board is versatile, accommodating various battery sizes without dimensional restrictions.
Dimensions:
🧩 The standard model measures 45mm x 15mm x 3.4mm, while the balancing version is slightly larger at 48mm x 20mm x 3.4mm. Whether you choose the standard or balanced edition, you will benefit from advanced safety and operational features designed for reliable performance.
🔋 Charging and Discharging Specifications:
🧩 This protection board is engineered to handle charging voltages ranging from 8.4V to 9.0V, ensuring that your batteries are charged efficiently and safely. The continuous discharge current has an upper limit of 20A; it is advisable to consider the cooling environment when operating near this limit. Additionally, the continuous charge current can safely reach 10A.
🏆 Performance Capabilities:
⚡ The standard edition of the board is capable of supporting starting drills with current demands up to 25A for applications under 50W, as well as resistive loads up to 168W. The balanced version retains similar capabilities for starting currents below 25A, including the added advantage of a balanced charging function, which helps equalize the charge levels among multiple cells for enhanced battery performance and longevity.
Installation Note:
🏆 For optimal performance, it is crucial to use high-discharge-rate batteries: two batteries rated at 10C-20C or four batteries rated at 5C-10C are recommended for starting power drills. Regular 18650 batteries are inadequate for this purpose. Additionally, ensure that 0V and 8.4V cables are constructed from copper wire with a minimum gauge of 2 square mm; avoid nickel plates as they are not suitable for this application.
Connectivity Guidelines:
🛠️ When connecting the 0V, 4.2V, and 8.4V terminals, always follow the wiring diagram precisely. It's imperative to charge the battery pack before use during the initial connection to ensure proper operation.
Operational Integrity:
🔋 While charging, it is normal for the "430" resistor to generate heat, indicating that the equalization circuit is functioning correctly. However, if the "430" resistor heats up while not charging, it may signal a wiring issue. Caution is advised: do not mix batteries of varying conditions. It is crucial that the capacity and internal resistance of paired batteries must match closely to avoid performance issues, as combining a good battery with a bad one can lead to inefficient operation.
